While many people might say that online school is easier and better because the students don’t have to leave the comforts of their homes to study, the reality is different. A lot of students don’t have gadgets and reliable internet connection at home.
This 18-year-old student from Mabalanoy in San Juan, Batangas recently went viral for his outdoor study area that he set up for online school. Joseph Andal is a Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering student at Batangas Eastern Colleges.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Andal could only attend online classes. Though he has a smartphone, it is a struggle to find signal inside their house. Since he needed the signal to be in school, the young student tried to find the best spot where the signal is the strongest – but this happened to be outside their house!
Determined to attend his online classes, Andal decided to set up a makeshift study area at that outdoor spot. Using bamboo poles and a curtain, he was even able to create a backdrop that made his setup look more authentic.
He has a bamboo table and makes use of a bamboo cellphone holder to ensure he could have his hands free to write notes or do what his teachers will instruct.
Andal’s simple yet dedicated study spot went viral after one of his friends, also named Joseph, happened to visit their house and saw what he did outside.
,” Joseph Palacio wrote as he shared photos of his friend on his Facebook account.
Palacio added that he feels so proud of his friend for being so determined to attend their online classes and study.
Because this is really where the signal is strongest, Andal plans to put a roof over the makeshift study spot so he wouldn’t have to worry a lot of about the heat of the sun or getting soaked by the rain.
