Tips for School Meal Pickup for Parents

In order to be most safe and equitable, most of these programs adhere to the same basic rules. Some of these programs offer to help any child under 18 in need of a meal. Some are now requiring that children must be enrolled in the school district and provide a student ID#. If you’re not sure if you qualify, please inquire directly with the school district at the links provided.

  • No food may be consumed on site.
  • Children are often required to pick up the food in person and provide student ID#.
  • Locations operate only a few days of the week. Multiple meals can be acquired during each visit.
  • Please bring a grocery bag or cooler to bring food home for the week.
  • Anyone over 2 years of age must wear a mask.

Oakland School Grab and Go Meal Program

OUSD offers free grab and go meals for students to pick-up two days per week.

Oakland Unified School District Breakfast & Lunch Distribution Schedule

The 22 sites listed below will be open on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 am to 1 pm. Multiple days worth of food can be picked up to take home. Children do not need to be present, but you must have the student ID#.

Oakland Unified School District Grab and Go Meal Pickup Locations

Nutrition Services Department will continue to operate 22 pick-up locations throughout the city where “Grab and Go” breakfast and lunch meals will be available for all OUSD students.

  • Northwest/West Oakland (3): Sankofa Elementary, West Oakland Middle School and Hoover Elementary
  • Central Oakland (7): Allendale Elementary, Bella Vista Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, Garfield Elementary, La Escuelita, Manzanita SEED/Manzanita Community, Oakland High School

Berkeley School Lunch Pickup

Berkeley School Breakfast & Lunch Distribution Schedule

Starting August 17th, Berkeley Unified School District will continue to provide Grab and Go Meals to BUSD enrolled students. Name and/or student ID# required at time of pick up.

Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: Open from 7 am – 9 am to pick up multiple meals; meal bundles will include breakfast and lunch, fresh fruit, milks, entrees and sides.

Berkeley School Lunch Pickup Locations

All sites are wheelchair accessible.

Berkeley Arts Magnet: 2015 Virginia Street, 94709. Grab and Go on Lincoln @ Milvia – outside the auditorium door.

Berkeley High School: 1980 Allston Way. Grab and Go in the breezeway on Milvia near Kittredge Street.

Cragmont Elementary: 830 Regal Road, 94708. Grab and Go at front school 830 Regal Road @ Spruce Street.

Emerson Elementary: 2800 Forest Avenue, 94705. Grab and Go at front of school on 2815 Forest Ave @ Piedmont Avenue.

Jefferson Elementary: 1400 Ada Street, 94702. Grab and Go on the corner of Acton and Rose.

John Muir Elementary: 2955 Claremont Avenue, 94705. Grab and Go curbside by school entrance on Claremont @ Ashby Ave.

Sylvia Mendez Elementary: 2840 Ellsworth Street 94705. Grab and Go at front of school 2837 Ellsworth between Oregon and Russell.

Longfellow Middle School: 1500 Derby Street, 94703. Grab and Go curbside in front of cafeteria 1522 Ward Street between California Street and Sacramento Street.

Malcolm X Elementary: 1731 Prince Street, 94703. Grab and Go curbside at 3090 King Street between Prince Street and Tyler Street

Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School: 1781 Rose Street. Enter on Grant, drive onto the basketball courts. Tables will be set up at the front doors of the Dining Commons.

Oxford / West Campus Elementary: 1222 University Avenue, 94702. Grab and Go curbside on Addison between Browning and Bonar, entrance to boardroom.

Rosa Parks Elementary: 920 Allston Way, 94710. Grab and Go outside the school office on the corner of Eight and Allston Way.

Thousand Oaks Elementary: 840 Colusa, 94707. Grab and Go outside main entrance at 863 Colusa Ave @ Catalina.

Washington Elementary: 2300 ML King Jr. Way, 94704. Grab and Go outside gate at 2300 MLK Jr Way and Bancroft.

Willard Middle School: 2440 Stuart Street. Grab and Go on Stuart Street @ Regent, under overhang.

Emeryville School Breakfast & Lunch Pickup Times

During the closure, Food Services Department will continue to provide curbside breakfast and lunch meals twice a week for any Emeryville child under 18. Children will be able to pick up multiple days worth of food to take home and must be present during pickup of each meal.

Emeryville School Breakfast & Lunch Distribution Schedule

Emeryville Unified food distribution program will be open at the following times and days:
  • Monday: 10am to noon (3 breakfasts/3 lunches per student)
  • Thursday: 10am to noon (2 breakfasts/2 lunches per student)
  • Meal pickup will be on 1100 47th Street, Emeryville (High School side)
  • Please bring a grocery bag or cooler to bring food home for the week.

Alameda School Lunch Pickup Locations

Alameda School Breakfast & Lunch Distribution Schedule

Through August 27th, AUSD will be providing several meals at a time two days per week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, food will be served at three school sites from 11 am to 12 pm. These meals are for any youth up to age 18, no ID is required, but children must be present to pick up the food.

West Contra Costa County Lunch Pickup Locations

The WCCUSD Food Services Department will be offering curbside meal pickups available at different school sites in Richmond, San Pablo, and Pinole during the closure offering both breakfast and lunch to enrolled students. West Contra Costa County School Breakfast & Lunch Distribution Schedule

Sites will serve meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 1pm to allow parents to pick up multiple days’ worth of meals instead of picking up meals daily. Families will need to provide a student ID# for all students picking up breakfast and lunch meals. The parent or guardian will pull up in their vehicle curbside with student’s name and ID# written on a large piece of paper and posted on the right side of the windshield.

Family Food Needs Beyond School Lunch

The Berkeley Food Network

The Berkeley Food Network’s on-site pantry will remain open during this period of COVID-19 containment as long as they are able to source food. Anyone in need of free food is welcome to visit. Staff and volunteers are using recommended practices to ensure that everyone who visits the pantry stays healthy.

Hours & Days:

BTA Pantry
The mobile pantry at the Berkeley Technical Academy remains open to serve the South Berkeley area.
