Scholarships are awards that do not have to be repaid. A variety of scholarships, ranging in dollar amount, may be available to you.
Spalding-funded scholarships
These scholarships are for first-year students entering Spalding in the fall of 2020-2021.
Academic scholarships
We award academic (or merit-based) scholarships to first-time, full-time students, who pay our undergraduate daytime tuition rate. A completed application for admission is required, and the minimum academic requirements are as follows:

Please note: Base and bonus awards will be combined for one merit award on your financial award package.
Need-based scholarships
We award the Muhammad Ali scholarship, up to $7000, to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, have complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and maintain full-time enrollment status.
Out-of-state scholarships
We award the Heartland scholarship—a 10 percent reduction in tuition, room and board—to undergraduate students who maintain full-time enrollment status, live on Spalding’s campus and are residents of Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington DC or West Virginia.* A completed application for admission by May 1 is required.
*Other non-Kentucky residents may be considered for the Heartland Scholarship. Please email our admissions office for more information.
Catholic scholarships
We award the Catholic heritage scholarship, a $500 award, to first-time, full-time undergraduate students who graduate from a Catholic high school.

Dual Credit scholarship | $1,000 to awardees who have taken a class through Spalding’s dual credit program as a high school student through the KHEAA dual credit and/or work-ready program |
Rotary Match scholarship | Up to $2,500 scholarship match for recipients of the Rotary Unsung Hero award |
YMCA Black Achievers scholarship | $2,500 to YMCA Black Achievers recipients enrolled at Spalding. |
Alumni or sibling discount | 10% discount on net tuition for siblings, children or grandchildren of Spalding graduates. |
Most Spalding-funded scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years if you maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing. Please note, these awards may be reduced if you receive tuition awards from outside sources. Merit scholarships in combination with other grants, scholarships and gift aid cannot exceed the cost of tuition and room & board.

Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES)
The Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) can be applied to tuition at any eligible post-secondary institution in Kentucky. This scholarship is based on a student’s yearly high school GPA and highest ACT or SAT score. For more information on KEES or to check your award online, please visit www.kheaa.com.

We award up to $8,000 to full-time, undergraduate transfer students with a minimum 3.00 GPA. This academic (or merit-based)scholarship is for transfer students, who pay our undergraduate daytime tuition rate.
